AI Visibility Services
Answer Engine Optimization and Generative Engine Optimization, commonly shortened to AEO and GEO: the technical, structural, and content work that makes your site easier for AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Mode to find, understand, and cite.
The problem this solves
Search is no longer just a list of ten blue links. AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Mode now answer a growing share of queries directly, citing a handful of sources rather than surfacing a full results page. A page that ranks well in classic organic search can still be invisible in these answers if it isn't structured in a way these systems can extract and cite cleanly.
This isn't a separate discipline from SEO so much as a stricter version of it. AI systems draw from content that's already crawlable, well-structured, and trustworthy, then reward pages that answer a question directly and clearly over pages that bury the answer in a long introduction. Most of the work is technical and structural, not a trick or a plugin.
What's included
- AI crawler accessibility audit: making sure GPTBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, and similar crawlers aren't unintentionally blocked
- llms.txt evaluation, implemented where it's genuinely low-risk and relevant, not by default
- Content restructured for passage-level citability: answer-first sections, clear semantic chunking, subheadings that mirror real queries
- FAQPage, Article, and Organization structured data that makes content easier to extract and cite
- Brand mention and citation tracking across AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Mode
- E-E-A-T signal work: authorship, sourcing, and evidence on the pages we most want cited
- Monthly reporting on AI visibility findings, tied to the same real-data discipline as the rest of our SEO work
Our process
AI visibility audit
We check AI crawler accessibility, establish a baseline for current brand mentions and appearances across AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Mode, and review content structure against passage-level citability.
Technical and structural fixes
We fix crawler access issues, implement or refine structured data, and restructure key pages for answer-first clarity.
Content and authority signals
We strengthen authorship and sourcing on pages we want cited, and close content gaps for queries where competitors are getting cited and you aren't.
Monitoring and iteration
We track brand mentions and appearances across AI surfaces every month, and adjust based on what's actually earning citations, since this changes faster than classic search.
What you can expect
This is a newer discipline than traditional SEO, and the tracking tools behind it are less mature than what exists for classic rankings. There's no standardized "position #3" equivalent yet, and results can move more than they would with Google's core ranking factors, since these platforms change their sourcing behavior often and without notice.
On one account we've worked, technical and on-page fixes combined with deliberate content structure and brand-mention tracking produced 9,000 monthly AI Overview appearances across 500 cited pages and 10,000 monthly AI Mode appearances across 600 cited pages within 3 months, alongside 300 tracked brand mentions across 230 pages in ChatGPT. Client name withheld at their request. We can't promise the same curve for every site: results depend heavily on how much crawlable, well-structured content already exists to work with.
We don't guarantee citation in any specific AI answer engine. What we commit to is improving the signals that correlate with getting cited, and reporting honestly, month to month, on whether that's actually happening.
Who this fits
- Sites with an established, reasonably well-structured content base already
- Businesses whose competitors are already showing up in AI Overviews or ChatGPT for relevant queries
- Sites with solid technical and on-page foundations already in place
Who this doesn't fit
- Sites with unresolved crawlability issues (technical SEO comes first, since AI crawlers hit the same blockers Googlebot does)
- Brand-new sites with little content or authority yet (content strategy comes first)

AI visibility: frequently asked questions
What's the difference between AEO, GEO, and traditional SEO?
AEO and GEO are about being cited inside an AI-generated answer, an AI Overview, a ChatGPT response, or similar, rather than earning a blue-link ranking. Traditional SEO still matters underneath: these systems draw heavily on content that's already well-crawled, well-structured, and technically sound. We treat this as an extension of solid SEO, not a replacement for it.
Can you guarantee we'll show up in ChatGPT or AI Overviews?
No, and no one credibly can. These platforms decide what to cite using logic that isn't published and changes often, more often than Google changes its core ranking factors. We can improve the signals that correlate with getting cited, crawler access, content structure, and sourcing, and monitor honestly whether that's working.
How do you track brand mentions in AI answers?
Through monitored query sampling and citation tracking against a defined set of queries relevant to your business, checked on a regular cadence, not a one-time guess.
Do we need llms.txt?
It's a proposed standard that some AI crawlers may reference, but Google Search doesn't use it, and its actual effect on getting cited is still unproven. We'll implement it if it's genuinely low-risk and relevant to your site, not because it's trending.
Is this only relevant if we already rank well in Google?
Mostly, yes. AI answer engines lean heavily on content that's already well-indexed and trusted. This works best layered on top of solid technical and on-page SEO, not instead of it, which is why we check both before recommending it.
