Hospitality SEO and Marketing

Local and destination search built to drive direct bookings, not just visibility that sends every click to an OTA.

Why direct bookings are the real fight

Hospitality businesses compete against OTAs that outrank them for their own property name and for nearly every generic search a guest might run. Guests research across several touchpoints, destination research, review comparison, and price comparison, before booking direct or handing 15 to 25% of the booking value to an OTA in commission.

Most hospitality websites aren't built to compete for any of that. Google Business Profile gets set up once and ignored, destination content doesn't exist, and there's often no real incentive for a guest to book direct even after they've found the property organically.

Common mistakes we see

  • No real investment in Google Business Profile, ceding the map pack to OTAs and nearby competitors by default
  • A property website with nothing for destination research, missing the earliest and often largest stage of guest search
  • No real reason for a guest to book direct instead of through an OTA: no price-match messaging, no direct-booking perk
  • Reviews scattered across Google, TripAdvisor, and booking platforms with no consistent monitoring or response

How we approach hospitality

  1. Local and map pack audit

We review Google Business Profile completeness, your review profile, and how competitive your local pack presence is against nearby OTA listings and competitors.

  2. Destination and intent content

We build the top-of-funnel research content OTAs generally don't bother writing: real local expertise a guest can't get from an aggregator listing.

  3. Direct-booking conversion

Site and messaging changes that give a real reason to book direct: price-match clarity, direct-booking perks, and a streamlined booking flow.

  4. Review and reputation management

Consistent monitoring and response across Google, TripAdvisor, and other platforms where guests are actually deciding.

Who this fits

  • Hotels, resorts, and venues wanting to grow direct bookings against OTA dependency
  • Multi-location or multi-property groups
  • Properties with strong reviews but weak local search visibility

Who this doesn't fit

  • Properties with no direct-booking infrastructure yet (web design and development comes first)
  • Businesses fully committed to OTA-only distribution with no interest in shifting the model

Hospitality SEO: frequently asked questions

Can you actually beat OTAs in search results?

For your own property name, usually yes, that's a realistic and achievable goal. For broad terms like "best hotels in [city]," going head-to-head with large aggregators is genuinely difficult. The realistic target is winning branded search and destination-research traffic, not outranking Booking.com for every generic term.

Do you manage our Google Business Profile and OTA listings?

We manage Google Business Profile directly. OTA listing optimization is a different, platform-specific practice with its own rules. We can advise, but it isn't core to this service.

How much do reviews actually matter here?

A lot. Review count, recency, and rating feed directly into local ranking and heavily influence whether a guest clicks through once they see your listing next to a competitor's.

We're a restaurant, not a hotel. Does this apply to us?

This page covers hotels, resorts, venues, and other booking-driven properties. If you're a restaurant or multi-location food business, our Food & Beverage page is the closer fit.

How long until we see more direct bookings?

Google Business Profile and local fixes often show initial movement within 4 to 8 weeks. Meaningful shifts in direct-booking share usually take longer, especially in competitive or highly seasonal markets.
